The Crickets Weekend いなごを食べた

On Saturday we met Saito at the local Sapporo beer gardens. It is an all you can eat type of restaurant. It was pouring down rain! And Eric forgot his wallet, so I waited with Saito while Eric taxied home quickly. Once he got back we ordered! We got the all you can eat mixed meat and veggie platter and all you can drink beer. We ate alot!!! About three platters of the meat and veggies, and about 2 pitchers of beer. We found out about half way through the meal that it was a typhoon coming in. Saito called a friend of his to pick us up and take us to karaoke. Saito called her Ma-Ma, I have no idea what her name really is though. Ma-Ma was the owner of a snack bar, and the picking people up and driving them home is a service that the snack bar offers. A snack bar is a place where men can go to sing karaoke with the women employees of the snack bar. Cuddling and dancing with the men is part of the employees job! We got there and had more drinks and lots of snacks, all Japanese of course, so it was stuff like boiled bamboo, potato, and konnyaku (its gross I think), she brought us persimmons, a bowl of tofu with some fish flakes on top, and then crickets!!! Those were so weird and cool, they are fried in soya sauce so they just tasted salty! I am not crazy about eating plain tofu so I didn't touch that dish. And Eric had only two crickets while Saito and I ate the rest of them! Eric and Saito sang some Japanese songs together, and they had an english selection - a big one!! So Eric and I sang quite a few of songs together also. Ma-Ma was quite impressed with my Japanese (even though I think they are really impressed if you can at least say one word!), but Eric said I did well with my communication. I danced with Saito, Eric, and Ma-Ma. Saito is a very good dancer!! He danced with Ma-Ma and it was awesome! At about 1030 or 1100 Ma-Ma drove us all home.

Sunday was ... awful (mostly)! I was sick in the morning (no wonder we never go out often and get tanked!) Eric took care of me, and in the afternoon he felt worse and I felt better so I took care of him. After supper we both felt better and decided to go for a walk, so we took the camera and took lots of pictures on our walk. We went for a small dessert as well. We were out for about two hours which was really nice!
